La Classique ACROSS Lake Geneva

A few weeks ago I completed my longest solo swim to-date, a 13+km crossing of Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) from Lausanne in Switzerland to Evian in France. Both an incredible location and an incredibly tough swim! Organisers the Lake Geneva Swimming Association did well to put the event on for over 200 swimmers in heatwave conditions but struggled to place enough buoys in 1000ft deep water (so sighting was challenging)! It was tough all day in the sunshine but drinking the lake water helped a lot and staved off any cramp. I was pleased to complete the swim (6hrs, 13.5km) as many didn’t, and receive an individually-embossed, glass bottle of Evian! I’ve offered to assist the LGSA on the same event next year.
